Frequently Asked Questions

About Our Programs

Who are your programs for?

Writers at all levels—from those working on their first story to those polishing their tenth manuscript. We have different programs for different stages: Emerging Voices workshops for those earlier in their journey, Boutique workshops for intermediate and advanced writers, and Mentorship for anyone ready for one-on-one guidance.

What genres do you teach?

Primarily fiction and creative nonfiction, including memoir. We also offer sessions on Native American literature, hybrid forms, and the craft elements that cross all genres.

Are your programs online or in-person?

Currently, all programs are virtual. This allows us to work with writers regardless of location. We’re exploring Maine-based retreats for the future.

About Pricing

Why the price range?

Prices vary based on program length, instructor, and format. The ranges give you a sense of what to expect; specific pricing is listed when registration opens.

Do you offer financial assistance?

Yes. We believe price shouldn’t be the barrier between a writer and quality instruction. If our listed prices don’t work for you, reach out. We’ll figure something out.

About the Process

How do I know which program is right for me?

Not sure? Email us. Tell us what you’re working on and what you’re hoping to get out of a program. We’ll point you in the right direction—even if that direction is somewhere other than our programs.

What’s the application process for Boutique workshops?

Boutique workshops require a brief application: a writing sample (usually 10-15 pages) and a short statement about what you’re working on. We’re not looking for perfection—we’re looking for fit.

We’re happy to help.
