A strong excerpt does not have to be perfect. It does need enough context, clarity, and intention for readers to understand what kind of help you want.
Before You Submit
- Follow the page limit exactly.
- Use readable formatting unless the course page says otherwise.
- Add a short note naming the form, project stage, and what kind of feedback would help.
- Do not submit pages you are not ready to discuss.
- Remove private information that classmates do not need to see.
- Check the course page for recording, AI, and manuscript privacy rules.
Helpful Context To Include
- Is this fiction, nonfiction, hybrid, memoir, essay, chapter, scene, or opening?
- Is it early draft, mid-revision, or near-final?
- What are you most worried about?
- What should readers not focus on yet?
